Program

Students are enrolled into the M.Tech. program through an entrance exam conducted by IIIT every year. The prerequisite for this program is the student should possess a graduate degree in architecture or civil engineering. Students are expected to have proficiency in mathematics, programming and physics in addition to sound domain knowledge. They should have inclination and willingness to learn and apply knowledge in a multi-disciplinary environment.

Students after successful completion of program, will have an in-depth professional knowledge to handle problems concerning planning, design and implementation of building science projects. They will have adequate knowledge to interact with specialists engaged on the projects. They will also have adequate knowledge and skills to develop IT applications in building science.

Students enrolled in this program will take five compulsory courses covering basic IT and six domain courses that cover the domain comprehensively. In addition, specialized courses are offered in two major areas: Building Automation and Structures. These courses aim at addressing the requirements and needs in the context of industrial applications.

Admission to the program is through written examination followed by interview.

Fee Structure

The tuition fees for the program is Rs.50,000/- (fifty thousand only) per semester, course duration being two years. Living costs including mess expenses at the campus are approximately Rs 3,000/- (three thousand only) per month. Students can avail assistantships along with their studies.

Assistantships

The institute offers regular teaching and research assistantships to the scholars on merit basis. They could be quarter, half or full depending on the working hours per week and the student can expect to earn Rs. 1,500 to Rs. 6,000 per month. Research assistantships are offered for involvement in research projects sponsored by the industry.
