We are pleased to announce that a book on human values, co-authored by Prof. Rajeev Sangal, Director, IIIT-H has been selected for Commendation Award 2010-11 by the Indian Society for Training & Development (ISTD).

The book, titled “A Foundation Course in Human Values and Professional Ethics”, is based on the proven principles of Jeevan Vidya, and presents a universal approach to value education through self exploration.

The book was co-written with Prof. RR Gaur, IIT Delhi and Prof. GP Bagaria, HBTI, Kanpur. The award will be presented at a ceremony in Kolkata, in Jan 2012.

Set up in 1970, ISTD (www.istdtrg.org) is a national level not-for-profit professional organization committed to developing and promoting best training practices, tools, and technologies in private and public sector enterprises in India. At least nine of 10 corporate and public sector professionals in human resources (HR) and training are members of the ISTD.

Prof. Rajeev Sangal has been in the news in the recent past for the below awards and citations.

• Featured by EduTech, in the Education Leaders section, in the May 2011 edition (May 2011)
• Presented the VASVIK Research Award (ICT Category), in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the advancement of computer science, by VASVIK. (Feb 2011)
• Figured among the 50 most illustrious alumni to have ever been selected by the Alumni Association of IIT-Kanpur, in 50 years since the institute’s inception. (Jan 2010)
• Named Fellow of the Indian National Academy of Engineers (INAE), in acknowledgement of his contribution to engineering research in India – particularly his pioneering work in machine translation and language technologies. (Oct 2009)
