A1. EXECUTIVE EDUCATION
Management of Software System and Development Workshop (MSSD) was conducted for 6 days (05- 10 Dec 05) during visit of Dr Lynn Carter. The Workshop was attended by 20 Software specialists from local industry including Microsoft, Computer Associate, CARE,ELICO,ECIL,CDAC,IEG and internal from MSIT and IIIT Hyderabad. This was very successful event and tested MSSD concept for launching initiative at MSIT/IIITH with CMU West and Prof Lynn Carter. Apart from covering Lynn Carter expenditure (incl. local Travel), the Workshop generated surplus.
Assisted IIIT Faculty in getting Nominations from DRDO and other contacts for the short duration Executive Programmes in Building Science, Earthquake Engineering and IT for Power.
Conduct of Two Distinguished Lectures during the yea 2006 one by Mr Kiran Karnik and other by Prof U R Rao for benefit of students and faculty at IIITH. The lecture is very well attended.
Excitement of Research was conducted in Feb 2006 for the benefit of over 250 students of local engineering colleges, with Guest Speaker including Dr Swamy Manohar and Lt. Gen. VJ Sundaram
Two-day R&D Showcase was organized in March 2006 with a Panel Discussion by specialists on 'Role of Research in Developing India'

A book published by SAGE, India 'The State, IT and Development' edited with Prof Kenneth Keniston (MIT, USA) and Rohit Raj Mathur (ASCI) was released by Prof V Rajaraman on 11 Nov 2005. The book has had excellent review.
Presented joint Paper with Amar Gupta on" 24x7 Factory Concept" at International Seminar in Information Systems held at ISB.

The special yearly meeting of Computer Science Researchers from all IITs called IRISS-2007 (Inter Research Institute Students Seminar) was held on Jan 4 and 5. Over 50 participants.
A W3C Speech Synthesis Markup Language (SSML-2007) was held on Jan 13 and 14, 2007. Over 25 Participants
Symposium on AI and Indian Industry (SAII-2007) on 10 Jan with open Panel on Theme "AI and its Benefits to Society" was a big success.
b. Tutorials& Workshops from 6 to 8 Jan 2007 at IIITH/Infosys
IIIT, Hyderabad, in collaboration with Infosys ,Satyam, MSIT, IEG, Motorala and Keane School conducted 20 Tutorials and 25 Workshops in an array of areas related to Artificial Intelligence including robotics, web data mining, natural language processing, machine learning, search, multi-agents and their applications.
c. IJCAI 2007 Conference
Hyderabad International Convention Centre (HICC), at Madhapur was specially selected for conducting eight parallel sessions during the four days. 472 Technical papers were presented in HICC (G.01 to G.06) from 9 to 12 Jan 2007. There were 9 plenary Sessions including Key Note by Dr Raj Reddy.

As Advisory Committee guided smooth conduct of annual convention of Computer Society of India (CSI-2005) at Hyderabad after a gap of 10 years. A special Student Convention (CSI-2005 Student Convention) was planned and implemented at IIIT-H with major events including Student Programming Contest, Student Paper Contest and important guest lectures by Prof D B Pathak, Prof V Rajaraman and Prof PVS Rao.
A two-day workshop exclusively for IEEE/CSI Student Branches on 'Launch Vehicle Technologies' was organized with Prof NDR Sarma, inviting leading specialists from ISRO and DRDO incl. Prof UR Rao.

DB: IIIT SERVICE ……VISITS
Regular visits for VVIPs from India and abroad incl. Govt. officials, International Faculty, Student Members were organized on regular requests. Apart from briefing, special discussions were organized for taking follow-up action, specially for International delegates from South Africa, Sri Lanka, UK and USA. The visits were efficiently planned and organized with the help from Asst. Manager (Outreach Division).
Upgradation of infrastructure in Executive Hostels, IIITH Guest House and Main Building to further improve the environment in IIITH complex for students, faculty and visiting guests.
Guided CSI, IEEE, IETE (I), Institute of Engineers (India) and other like minded Societies for sharing IT Emerging Trends and role for India by conducting various professional events.
Established Outreach Div office with Asst Manager in Room 202 from 1 Mar 2005, which is forming Secretariat for all major Conferences including IJCAI-07 and ICON-05.
